Gujarat Assembly Election to be held in December, VVPAT will be Used

Gujaratonweb: 11 Oct, 2017, Chief Election Commissioner of India AK Jyoti has indicated that Gujarat elections can be held in December. The Assembly's term will end in the third week of January. They say that VVPAT machines will be used on all fifty thousand booths in Gujarat. These have been tried in Goa. The Commission is going to create a polling station for women for the first time in these elections. Soon a team of the commission will be Gujarat for preparations for the elections.

VVPAT will be used

Jyoti says that during elections, curbing the distribution of money, liquor, narcotics and other items will be a priority in electoral environment. CCTV cameras will be installed at border checkposts and sensitive booths. Chief Election Commissioner Jyoti, who arrived in Gujarat to take stock of the preparations for the assembly elections, discussed this in a meeting with Chief Secretary JN Singh and Director General of Police, Geetha Johri. Joti said that 4 crore 33 lakh voters are registered in the state, out of which 10 lakh 46 thousand new ones are connected. Any citizen will be able to complain about the breach of election code of conduct by sending mobile app, SMS, video and photos. For the helicopter, charter plane etc., the concerned agency DGCA, Aviation etc. will also get approval in due time. He said that the transactions from banks for monitoring the evacuation and distribution of illegal money will be monitored. The movement of vehicles through the GPS system will also be monitored. The candidature of the candidates will be uploaded on the Commission's website.

On Monday, the Election Commissioner met the representatives of various national parties, including the BJP, Congress and asked for suggestions for reforms. The Congress had put a CCTV in sensitive areas and counted VVPAT's 10 percent votes to declare the results. Whereas BJP has demanded the assembly elections after December 14 due to a large number of wedding ceremonies in the first week of December.
